African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights
The African Charter on Human and Peoples' rights is an instrument which promotes and protects human rights in Africa. It is currently ratified by all the African Union members, except for South Sudan. It covers civil- and political rights, economic-, social- and cultural rights as well as peoples- and group rights. For the Working group the most important parts are Article 20, Article 21, Article 22 and Article 24. It can be found here.
International Monetary Fund Report
The Regional Economic Outlook for Sub-Saharan Africa, written by the International Monetary Fund, is an economic report focusing on the economic drivers, external factors and policy issues in Sub-Saharan African. Its aim is to provide information and insights in the current macroeconomic situation and ways to improve it. The report recommends to improve macroecomic management and to strenghten institutions. Africa Progress Report 2013
The Africa Progress Report 2013 is written by the Africa Progress Panel, consisting out of ten individuals from the private and public sector. The aim of the panel is to promote equitable and sustainable development by coalition building to influence policy and create change for Africa. This issue is about Africa's national resources and its potential to bring change to the continent. The report can be found here.
Kimberley Process Report
'Through an African Lens: Reimangining responsibilities and definitions in a changing mining sector' is the title of the report based on discussions during a workshop about the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme. The diamond industry is of huge political and economical importance to Africa. Different recommendations are made to improve the Kimberley Process and to sustain the diamond industry in Africa. Action Plan for Implementing the Africa Mining Vision
The goal of the Africa Mining Vision is to meet the Millenium Development Goals, eradicate poverty and achieve rapid and broad-based socio-economic development. It was adopted by the Ministers responsible for mineral resources at a African Union conference in 2008. It consists out of several clusters of activities that together form the Action Plan.
